Through AILA inquiry, I came to know my case details:
CIS electronic records indicate that your case have moved from the
security review area to the Case Resolution Unit(CRU). Will check
with supervisors of the CRU to find out what is going on with these cases
and if they can be routed to exams to be worked".
What does it mean ? What is happening in CRU ?
Internet refers CRU handles if case has multiple "A" nos or receipt notice delays....I filed only one I-485 application five years back.....

Do google with as many as keywords from that thread followed by immigration voice, you'll definitely get as long as that thread is still open.

Given the Times Square bomber Faisal Shahzad�s immigration history, the common refrain of �let�s just close our borders to all immigrants� is (not surprisingly) becoming more vocal. After all, as the argument goes, if someone like Shahzad (who apparently is not one of the �best and brightest�) is able to obtain a student visa, then an H-1B �specialty occupation� work visa, a green card, and the ultimate prize of U.S. citizenship � all in a span of less than 8 years -- then perhaps we need to take a step back, take a deep breath and just close our borders...

Hi Friends,
I have a question, actually I worked with a for-profit company A for few years and then transferred my H1B to a not-for-profit company B last year. Now can I transfer my H1B to a for-profit company C?
Actually one of my friend told, it is not possible and I can transfer only to the not-for-profit companies as I am currently working with a not-for-profit company B. Is this true?

I've received very good advice from IV members and hope to get this one sorted out here. My in-laws passed away within the last 2 years and wife's younger sister is stressed out. To cheer up we plan to bring her to US for 2 months. Her visa may get rejected for these reasons. No strong family ties in India since the parents passed away. She is an engineer (non-IT) but not employed and she is unmarried and no other siblings in India.
However she is a partner is her father's business and can show the documents as a proof.
What's the best way to get apply for visitor visa
1. I sponsor her visit, by sending bank statements, pay slips and employment letters etc.
2. She applies on her own and show her partnership documents, bank statements etc..
3. She goes through a travel agent like SOTC and book 10 day sightseeing trip and after which she could join us.
Obviously her sister being in US and no parents back home is a big red flag but we can't change that situation.
Any advice will be much appreciated.

H1-B quota got filled up on May 26, 2006. You have to wait till April 1, 2007 to apply for H1-B, unless the company falls in the exempt category (non-profit, university...). If the SKIL bill is passed in the lame duck session it can change things as well.

My I140 was filed 10/01/2007 and it got approved Jun 4th,2008 I think the processing dates are little misleading.

Hi
I am currently working on H1B visa. I also had an EAD which expired 2 months back & I applied for renewal of the EAD last month. I am at the risk of being laid off by my current employer & they will withdraw my H1B if that happens. Here are my queries-
(1) If I lose my H1 status & my EAD approval is still pending, what do I need to do? If I am unable to find a new H1B sponsor, will I have to leave US immediately?
(2) Will my H1 cancellation have any effect on my EAD & AP renewal petition?
(3) Can I return to US & work after my AP & EAD are approved?
(4) If my EAD approval happens before my H1B visa is revoked, can I legally stay & work in US on the basis of ONLY the EAD?
Thanks in advance for your advice!

I've been following this green card mess for the past 10 months and was well aware of it even while I was living back in Canada. I would like to join the Norcal chapter of IV to contribute my thoughts towards resolving this situation.

Company "A" negotiating with a person who does not have paystubs, as he always been on bench.
during this time Company "B" apply for H-1B Transfer(without paystubs as they plan to submit later in a week or so)
Company "A" did the settlement and issues paystubs etc... but same time they apply cancellation of H1.
My I-94 is valid untill dec-09
Can a transfer be done like this???
Please advise as i am dying day and night.............do not make a fun of it.

I"m currently working for a TARP company and my I-94 date is Aug 2009. I still have 3 years left on my H1B.
I've got an offer from another bank (non-TARP) and they have filed for my H1 transfer.
a) Any idea what the wait times are these days?
b) Anybody seen problems with H1B transfers these days?
c) There might be a 1 week overlap (pay) between my current company and my future company. is that OK? e.g. My join date in the new company will be Feb 23rd and my notice date will be Feb 28th in my current company.

I am not sure if its a new rule to get an NOC from the husband, but as far as i know NOC is required only for Govt Employees. Make sure you really need one for getting a passport for an individual. If your wife is a Govt Employee then she may need one from the Govt/Office where she works.

My I-485 has been denied based on the fact that I entered the country illegally in 1985.
My last USA entry was in 1998. It was a legal exit and entry. I was given a permit to make a trip to South America. Can the fact that my last entry was legal be enough to reopen the petition? Can I used my last entry as basis for my I-485 adjustment?
